Yeah, I'm personally hoping for a remaster/remake of a 3D Mario game, just because I don't see them having one ready in time for Wii U unless it comes in 2016 or later...at which point they might just want to use it for the next handheld or console for launch.
As for MM...I want that to happen, and an encouraging sign should actually be that OoT3D came in June of 2011 followed by SS in November 2011. And then WWHD in September 2013 with ALBW in November 2013...so they certainly haven't had a problem releasing a remake and a new title in the same year the last two times.
