Smash for Wii U for me! I'll buy both, but if i had to choose it would be Smash for Wii U.
Pokemon will be challenging if its your first game, but you should try it out! 
I guess its hard to get into it after so many generations, but its worth it once you understood it!
If you're a competitive player this might be the game for you!
Btw. i would start with X / Y, they are pretty easy but still give you a good idea of the games!
