Lol. How could you forget the only 2 actual horror games from last gen? Namely Amnesia and Outlast.

True, but these were indie.

It's been a while since we've actually had a "big" horror game, with retail release and all...

Now, right at the beginning of this gen, we have The Evil Within, Alien Isolation, Until Dawn, Silent Hills annouced. That's quite a lot in such a short period of time.

I would regard horror as one of the few genres that doesn't need a big budget.

They just need decent graphics, great direction and good level design. Nothing for which you need a big budget. And as we've seen, AAA horror games tend to be more about the spectacle and story, rather than actual horror. It almost seems that it's harder to make a good horror game, the higher the budget is.

I completely agree, but I'm just saying it's nice to see the genre is getting the attention of bigger names once again.

Shinji Mikami, Kojima, Del Toro (and I secretly hope Yamaoka will be back as well)...

But true, the higher the budget, the higher the target sales, the wider the target audience. It's quite tricky to find a good balance.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.
