It seems that he felt insulted by the silly "letter to the fans" more than anything else.
Well obviously Microsoft would have to look after its own interests so the decision makes sense on their part.
Extremely poor decision by SE though, they really hurt the Jrpg market the last generation by producing a whole bunch of exclusive rpgs for xbox which all went ahead and flopped. Again it was a commendable effort by microsoft to increase their fanbase but it affected the Jrpg genre negatively and it never recovered.
One thing last gen showed us was that Multiplat is way of the future, because the threshold of sales required to make a game profitable has risen considerably and games have to target the maximum amount of consumers.
Hopefully something similar does not happen.
