Do we really need to trod out the "Silent Hill" (or Hills, wtf?) name yet again?

I am not going out on much of a limb here to say that, much like all the Silent Hill games after SH3, this will probably have little to nothing to do with the cult, Alessa, the town, or anything at all from the original games.

Just as Downpour, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, the movies, comic books and even SH4 deviated so far from the source material and original vision of Team Silent that they may as well be new ips that could be considered spiritual successors to the SH series.

It would be like if they made a new real time strategy game that had nothing to do with the Command and Conquer series aside from a character named Kane or something, and they still slapped the C&C name on the box because they know it will sell more copies to diehard fans that will buy anything with the franchise name on it.

I swear, there are too many otherwise great movies and games that have to share their names with awful sequels/prequels.

Oh well, maybe in 10-15 years we will see a true spiritual successor to SH that is not afraid to be fresh and original. It will probably come from the indie market.

Before anyone says "wait and see you haven't played it yet," I can assure you I will rent it or get it used at some point, but any hope I had of this being potentially good died when I saw Kojima's name on the project. Maybe he will be really hands off and he will just give the game to del Toro and other more competent people to develop ... I can dream at least.
