nuances in the games you can pick up pretty quickly especially if you're used to how certain iterations play.  sometimes the nuances don't exactly enhance but break the gameplay.  you're pretty saying you'll buy regardless even if it's a broken game.  even with the locked 2-4 teams and limited settings, it's enough to get the feel of the new gameplay mechanics.. which is where madden lives or dies.  i don't buy a new madden every year for that very reason.. the last i owned was madden 12 which was shit.. 13 was shit.. last year's was shit.. the one i keep going back to is 10.. which just plays better for me.  everyone's opinions on madden is different.. thus the reason why some iterations sells better than others. thus the reason why a demo is invaluable in this aspect.  i didn't buy 13 or 14 because of the demos.. influenced me.

as for LIVE.. knock it however you want.. but that's EA's next best sport franchise outside of Madden.. as for NBA2k.. that's always shat on Live.. but Live wasn't ever a broken pile of blasphemy that was released like the last iteration (hence nobody would of known about had there been no demo).  also, makes choosing a game easier when there is actually something there that competes along EA's titles.. but something like madden, which only EA has license to create an NFL game..there is no competition.  back in the DC/Ps2 days, I remember NFL2k shatting on all Madden too until the NFL decided to release only 1 single license..

at least up until this point, a demo was good for decision making, especially for games like these.  I love me some football and Soccer.. but im not blind enough to pick up Madden just because.. nor Fifa just because.  And with Fifa.. at least if it falls short.. PES is there to pick me right up.  With madden.. regardless, i'll know folks that do have it and play it there.. just i wont buy it myself if its not worth it.

If you haven't bought a Madden in almost 3 years then you're one of the "casual players" you were trying to label me as earlier. No other way around it. So you might be able to play a quick demo game and think you notice something you like, that's awesome. Some people will even download the demo and only play that, not even worry about the game. That's also awesome. Most people don't care about the demo though. Some will buy it no matter what, others like myself are more hardcore players and want to see if there are any real changes, which you need in depth games with the ability to tweak settings and play through game modes to understand.

Again, EA got to where they were by understanding how to sell games. If this were anywhere near as big a deal as you're making it out to be, they wouldn't be doing it. And ahahahaha @ Live being EA's 2nd best sports franchise. You... just really don't know sports games. You're forgetting their PGA games, their NHL games, their FIFA franchise, and even NCAA Football, even though it's now dead. NBA Live has been trash for years, long before this last one. Never heard of Jesus Bynum? Do yourself a favor and Google it. And look up the recent history of Live. People didn't buy it because they knew well beforehand it was trash, demo or not.

Not going to bother debating this anymore. NBA Live next best after Madden, lol.
