Well, Sony is a corporation so their goal is to obviously make as much money as possible. Sony really needs to prove that they can consistently make profits, so of course, they're going to put all the attention on the PS4. The 10 million sold through to consumers shows that and they're clearly not going to stop there. Mentioning the PS3 will serve as a distraction. As for the Vita, Sony wants to squeeze whatever money they can possibly make from it with minimum effort. This is why Sony does not advertise Vita games nor do they have their studios make games for it. Because it'll make them lose money.
