Why is moneyhatting frowned upon?

Here's an idea, why don't they make their own games? Make one that people will want to buy an Xbone for. Halo was a game like that once. Are they too afraid to do another?

Microsoft already makes their own games. The Wii U is a prime example that first party exclusives won't net you sales, hence moneyhatting. 

Okay, what games? What new games, not Halo, Gears or some Dance thing for Kinect, are they making themselves? One that would be that game to move consoles from their own studios. Okay so Halo and Gears will but surely they need more than old franchises?

Wii U isn't selling because of lack of game support from 3rd parties, it is it's own games that are makign it sell.

They opened a dozen new studios over the years. They're working on something. Microsoft also has new stuff like Scalebound, Sunset Overdrive, and Project Spark. There isn't a shortage of new projects at Microsoft Studios. 

The Wii U's first party games aren't enough to power it past the PS4. Microsoft knows you need more than first party games to sell, and this is why they moneyhat.
