BenVTrigger said: I do find the money hatting comments funny though How do you think Sony got Bloodborne? I assure you there was money / marketing deals in place to make it an exclusive. MS simply did the same here. Is it annoying? Yes I would have rather bought it on PS4 / PC so they could push the graphics farther, but I'm fine buying it on Xbox One as well. Using resources to secure a 3rd party exclusive is nothing new. If you haven't learned by now its worth owning all the major consoles each generation let me assure you it is. |
Well, I think the biggest thing with BloodBorne is that it's funded by Sony Japan, right? As in they paid for the development and own the IP?
This TR type of moneyhat seems to be a game that's already funded, already in development, and already coming to as many platforms as make sense (to try to recoup the investment in development). The funds in this case are simply used to compensate the company for NOT getting sales on competing platforms.
IOW : it's money spent to keep the game away from gamers, not to pay for the game to be developed in the first place.
Microsoft is paying for Gears to be developed, I'm great with that. Same with Halo, Killer Instinct, and others. That's wonderful.
Paying for multiplatform 3rd party titles simply NOT to appear on other platforms is a dick move, plain and simple. And in this case, it's even more puzzling, because TR is a terribly weak franchise.
