They don't. There was a thread some time ago, naming >70 franchises Nintendo has made in the last 15 years, some as recent being 2010 or after.

The only truly rehashed franchises are Mario and Pokémon.

They are making some cool new things but it's Mario, Pokemon and Sonic (from SEGA) that should be left (not forever). Pokemon basically hasn't changed since I played it on the original Gameboy 15-20 years ago and Mario games are too similar.
