So, on XOne, for $60 I can play Guacamelee, Crimson Dragon and Strike Suit Zero.

On PS4, for $50 I can play Strider, Towerdall Ascension, Fez and Road Not Taken.

EA Access, for $30 I can play Madden, FIFA, Battlefield 4 and Peggle.

I wonder which of these is the best deal.

Unfortunately, owners of either console must have their respective subscription services, otherwise content will be blocked off, taken away, and they will not be able to enjoy their purchase to the fullest (Point Sterling is making about "possible" turn of events in EA Access).

So, people are willing to accept that they are obliged to pay $60 to EA, Ubi, Activision, 2K or whomever else, but then are paywalled by MS or Sony and unless they pony up subscription money they cannot access or use content already purchased.

And all of the sudden, EA is the bad guy for offering a choice for people that like those specific games.

If you want to preserve the doom and gloom of gaming industry's future, the finger should be squarely pointed towards Microsoft and their Gold subscription ages ago.
But no, gamers accepted it, bought it abundantly, eventually allowing Sony to do exactly the same.
And rather than PS fans rebelling against it, subscription is up 200%.

So, now EA is bad and money-hungry, and threatens to ruin the industry because they are just following the models already existing (and apparently working rather well).

Had gamers rebelled against Microsoft, and told them to stuff their Gold sub where the sun doesn't shine, and purchased a competing console last gen, we would not be here.
Had gamers rebelled against Sony and told them to stuff their PS+ required for online on PS4, we would not be here.

Now it's too late. Gamers have been conditioned, and we will see more and more of these services.

However, the industry survived Gold, it is obviously doing well with PS+ in place. It will continue to do well with EA, or any other subscription service.

And gamers still, as with Gold and PS+, have a choice to pick and choose any, all or none for their enjoyment.
Once you see a publisher getting greedy and offering substandard service, cancel your subscription and force them to change.
Don't just click "purchase", and then complain about it on internet forums.
