Speak for yourself. With a few exceptiosn, Wii had a lot more third party games I actually wanted to play, such as MH3, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Zack & Wiki, Red Steel 2, Fragile, Muramasa, Little King's Story, Mushroom Men, Arc Rise Fantasia, Tales of Symphonia 2, Rune Factory Frontier, FFCC: The Crystal Bearers, Sonic Colors, No More Heroes, the Goldeneye remake (before it got ported), etc. etc. There were even a couple multiplats that I enjoyed more on Wii, in spite of lesser graphics (The Force Unleashed, Ghostbusters, etc.)
Of course it's always good/better for a console to get at least a good share of the multiplat titles, and there were a few at least that publishers had little to no excuse to put on Wii, such as SFIV, MvC3, GTA4, etc. They could have easily been done. They just didn't want to put in the effort. But by and large, I've never been all that much into many of the "big AAA" third party franchises anyway, such as GTA, CoD, Assassin's Creed, etc., so I didn't really feel like I was missing out on that much.
The problem Wii U is facing, is that at least for now, it isn't even getting the cool little exclusive third party titles like Wii got, that I listed above. Wii actually had a lot of third party support, it just missed out on many of the big HD titles that were on the other systems. Then again, it also got many of them, like Tomb Raider, and Splinter Cell, and CoD, and several of the Need For Speed games, and Rayman, etc.
Part of Wii U's issue is being gradually "fixed" by the ever growing number of indie titles coming to it. But it still needs those retail third party games as well. Me personally? I'm good with the first party Nintendo titles I actually want to play, supplemented by many of the indie games coming that I'm interested in. I prefer 2D gaming anyway, ultimately, and my of them are. But for many other gamers, I know, it would certainly help if at least SOME more of these third party games would come to Wii U as well, so they don't feel like they have to fork out more cash for one of the other consoles. The funny thing is, Wii U started with really strong support. And then when many of those games didn't sell well, that support dried up quick. That's pretty much literally how it went. If some of those games had sold better, and Wii U hadn't suffered the overall game drought for much of 2013, there's a good chance that we'd still be seeing much stronger third party support right now. But, it is what it is.
