I don't see SCE making the PS3 any smaller with another case revision. The current case is already about as cheap as they can make it (a key consideration in designing revisions).
There will probably be at least one more internal revision as their engineers continue to whittle down and simplify components on the logic board in the interest of lowering the BoM and the MSRP while maintaining per unit profitability.
As things stand, SCE could probably already drop the price of the current model, but I'm sure they've done the projections in predicting how many additional units that would sell relative to the overall amount in lost profits. SCE is probably more concerned with increasing PS3 unit sales numbers in secondary markets and even more concerned about increasing the current PS4 user base in primary markets.
We'll see what sort of deals they offer with Black Friday and the post holiday crush. I'm expecting more bundling at $199.
