It's because he doesn't defend himself, only redirecting attention elsewhere.

I don't see how he must defend himself over every flimsy case. It's up to town to see through them. He's free to post about whatever he prefers.

A good townie does not always need to defend himself. He should defend himself only when legitimate questions come up.
