It's sad but mostly true.

My problem was that Parasite Eve 2 completely ruined tank controls for me. Adding a "press Square to target the nearest enemy in your line of sight" was very intuitive and nowhere near as fidgety as oldschool Resident Evil. Aya felt like she was wielding some really heavy weapons. Jill just felt clunky.

That, and PE2 made the bayonet a useful high-skill weapon.

The fixed camera also definitely added to the atmosphere. There is something uniquely cinematic to running down a corridor, the camera angle changing to be UNDER YOUR FEET, and you don't change the control at all. Because your character isn't actually changing direction.

Wut? Parasite Eve 2 is the best Survival Horror game and a candidate for best game ever made. SH + RPG elements plus Squaresoft at it's best = unstoppable. It is better than all the RE games. I do agree with you on the fixed cameras though.

Ruined tank controls as in "this game is awesome, why would I ever go back?" PE2 has very deep combat and some absurdly cool weapons, equipment, and armor, but I would hesitate to call Normal Mode "Survival Horror." You wind up with items oozing out of your pockets.

Nightmare Mode, though....*shudder* Yeah. That's S-H.

Compared to RE...OK, I could gush all day on how cool PE2's M4A1 attachments were. It's best I stop here.
