In all the games I've played, not once has a mafia player ever gone as far as an aggressive, dedicated townie. They simply don't care enough to be bothered, since all they have to do is choose who to kill at night. Some more involved scum will try to make arguments and appear to gather evidence, but it usually feels constructed and fake, and more importantly, they are ALWAYS caught later on.
Now I know how it must feel to be questioned as a newbie. I've been there. It's like he's picking on you alone, and you can't fight back. However, he's brought up many genuine conerns and made a number of good points. Actually, the reason I got a town read from you was because of his questioning.
If none of that is convincing enough, consider what you just said. He gets results. He might be the most beneficial scum to us town, so why not keep him? Someone good for town of unknown faction is better than apathetic town in my opinion.
