Does the average consumer know the PS4 versions are generally better? I doubt it. Don't confuse people like us with the average consumer. They don't go online to observe the visual nuances. I know you'll find that hard to believe. |
Why do you just assume that people that are about to spend $400+ on a piece of electronics just throw their money at the cash register blindly? Today, in the era of internet and youtube, all the info is only a click away.
And true, they will not scrutinize screenshots or even be able to distinguish between 900p and 1080p or 30 vs 60 fps themselves. And they don't need to. There are plenty of comparisons already served to them. They just need to google a few buzzwords, read a few articles and watch a few youtube videos, or ask a few knowledgable friends. And any objective dara will point them towards a superior, yet more affordable solution.
To think that XOne can generate sales strictly of the back of an "average consumer" is just wishful thinking. And those that are willing to spend that much money without even knowing what they are buying are few and far between. And even in that particular case, Playstation brand is so much more powerful and has worldwide presence, while XBox brand virtually doesn't exist outside former British colonies and gamer-centric internet forums.
In the end, all XOne has to be different from PS4 in order to attract customers are irlts exclusives, which are few and far between, and increasingly available on other platforms...
