Well, UHD sets are quickly dropping to realistic prices for regular folks...I am showing a retail price of $1499 for a Samsung 50" UHD LED panel right now, the UN50HU6950.  (I work for a distribution company that sells consumer electronics).  Personally, I would save up for at least a 65" set though.  The UN65HU8850 is selling right now for $2699...or what you would have spent for a good 1080p set last year!

Unfortunately, you will probably have to spend AT LEAST $2500-$3000 for a gaming PC that will handle that resolution...and the biggest problem is that video cards don't yet support HDMI 2.0...so you will be limited to 30fps until the graphics cards catch up.

I would wait another year before jumping into UHD, for that reason, and because 4k video content is so scarce right now...although Netflix and YouTube are both streaming 4k right now...IF you have the bandwidth!
