You seemd to be confused here. You do realize that the Xbox One was NEVER on sale with the "DRM" and the "everything" else you seem to think they dropped after sales were "horrid". The only change sinse release is the offering a Kinect-less bundle. Even there.. both are still for sale..

Sales had no bearing on the removal of all the "DRM" or digital based plans. Customer reaction did. Which was changed MONTHS before the Xbox One release.. over 4 months to be exact.

Microsoft has been listening to customers, and Phil Spencer has been a big reason for this. They are adding new features and changing things EVERY SINGLE month based on DIRECT CUSTOMER FEEDBACK.

ANd last... Sales were not "horrid" The Xbox One is still ahead of X360 at this point in the release. Sales were LOW compared to the PS4. But one could have said why didn't the PS3 and X360 make massive changes when the Wii was outselling both of the by a HUGE margin. It's not always about chasing your competitor. Microsoft's only comparison for their success is the X360 sales, which outsold the OG Xbox.

Wrong, sales are bad compared to the 360 as well. The x1 only has had a great launch, but monthly it has sold less than the 360 did. At the same point in time the 360 is catching up with it, and its calculated that by this year the 360 will pass it in sales. A great launch alone is not enough, its doing terrible, its the reason for the titanfall+year of live-$50 dollar bundle, the reason for the removal of kicknect the reason for the $75 credit to existing 360 owners to upgrade and all this things have not worked like MS hoped and is still selling really bad.

Um..   You measure sales for a period of 9 months..   Doesn't matter that the X1 sold MORE up front. It is STILL ahead of the X360 as right now. It can't be CALCULATED to reach anything cause people can't predict the future. No matter what is selling montly NOW that could change in 2 months. Game systems do not follow a patter of EXACT sales. The X360 started selling better 3-4 years after it came out.  The reason the X1 sold MORE up front is cause the inventory was there to do so.. So why would people need to buy it the several months out if they got it the first few months..  People keep saying this "X1 sales behind x360 the last few months' but IGNORE the fact that that qantities available for the first few months of the X360 were not even 50% of what was available for the X1.

By the end of 2013 the Xbox One was at 3 million worldwide.. The X360 had sold only 1.5 million.  So that was 1.5 million people who were able to get their new concolse within the first 2 months of release, and not have to wait for better inventory months from then. Also take note that by this time of July the X360 had LAUNCHED in more markets then the XOne has. Yes they are tier 2 countries.. But every country adds sales and the X1 has STILL stayed ahead with being in less countries. But even still. Bigger fact here is that when 3 million people were able to get their consoles right away because of better stock, its obvious they would likely sell less. This with being a console that is MORE MONEY and HAD COMPETITION. That is ANOTHER huge factor peopel FORGET. The X360 had ZERO next-gen compeition. The X1 had 2 consoles to sell up against that were "next-gen".  SO again it manage to OUTSELL the X360 while still having to compete with the PS4 and Wii U.

Yes the PS4 is selling amazingly..  just as the WIi took off with amazing sales..    seems there will always be a "KING"..   Like the PS2 was the generation before last..  But relative to ALL of these things the XOne is selling well..  Maybe not as well as Microsoft hoped... but HISTORICALLY.. it is selling WELL..
