I own PS3/360 and absolutely hate achievements and what they stand for. I really can't see why anyone would care what their score is.

Or what they stand for? Mind explaining a bit more? I find that they give me more value out of a game. I am very goal oriented. I love trying to meet all the challenges given forth in a game by each achievement. Some games the achievements are pretty useless and not much effort is put into them though, that is true. But I love trying to get "two for on" or "Steppin Razor" or such on Halo 3. They can be tough to get, and it's a nice sense of accomplishment to have obtained them. Again, the score overall I don't care about, it depends on the individual game.

I mean the things that achievements are designed to do to make people boost their score - playing "easy" games, playing games they don't like, playing games for longer than they would usually etc; all in an attempt to gain bragging rights on internet forums.

It seems so contrived to me.
