So might mafia as well. Different reasons same reactions. However, there is one type of talking that overwhelmingly is bad for town, and thats focusing on things that dont matter. Town might do it for fun, like the discussion about arrows and whatnot. Mafia do it to fun too, but it also helps them bLend in and look like town without having to draw relationships and have people analyze them. I mean, when all the townies are doing it, its gunna be hard to figure out who the mafia is, right? And nobody is really going to havea solid case as well! In fact, townies might even stick up for them...why? Because theyre guilty of the same thing. T |
But it does matter. Without "vapid" subjects, there's no theme, and the game just becomes a bunch of baseless finger pointing. The flavor text is all that makes the first day even worth playing. Aside from flavor conversations, what is there really? Just some noobs asking about the rules, people discussing the rules the noobs asked about, and you pointing fingers saying "What? You asked about the rules? It must be a trick! You actually know the rules and are playing dumb! Here's some semantics to prove my point!" Or "What, you pointed fingers? You might be trying to hide something! Mafia!" Or "What, you haven't pointed fingers yet? You must be trying to hide something! Mafia!" If flavor conversations are vapid, pointless, and bad for the town, then I'm really missing the point of the first day. Maybe I just don't get this game, but it feels to me like the "vapid" conversations are the ones that matter the most, and do more to advance the game than baseless finger pointing. At the very least, they're definitely more fun. It's safe to say that the entire reason I joing "Fire Emblem Mafia" was for the parts of it that you call "vapid".

lot to go over in this post so I'll bullet for easier reading.
1. There's plenty of ways to enjoy the theme without vapidity. Some games people use quotes from the source under their posts. Other games, people talk in character. Sometimes people use references as their metaphors. But one thing is certain. We are in a game where we were never told we couldn't name our characters. We were also told that mafia have names, and also additional fake-names they can use. We were also told that faction alignment means nothing, and that characters don't match night actions. What is the result? People hinting at their characters names. What's the point? Sure it's fun to play your character....the point is why is everyone only "hinting" at their character? Why are people making post after post about something so inconsequential?
2. At this point I wrote a few paragraphs but realized that your accusations are completely baseless, so instead insert a line about steel swords if you will.
3. Perhaps I said that flavor conversations are bad for town, but perhaps that's too harsh. Flavor is fine....in moderation. If all I see out of one person is all flavor, then that looks bad.
4. Tell me in what way the flavor has pushed forward anything? It's a fun side-quest. Nothing more. In fact, the only reason you are having a somewhat contributory debate is because I'm here.
5. Look, I'm not telling you what to do. Do whatever you want. Just...for the record, I don't think you're mafia. It would be far too stupid to pick a fight with me on day 1 if you were. And your shameless flipflopping on activity vs inactivity is begging for votes.
In fact, I'm going to make a quick tally of all the inconsistencies you've said. Feel free to do the same for me, if you choose. cont next post.
