The diff between 720P and 1080P, and better frame rates and easy to see, double the pixles makes a huge diff and gets rid of aliasing (x1 games are more aliased). Not to mention some games have worse shadows, no Ambient oclusion worse effects even if Res is the same.

The difference is noticeable in compressd images it is more pronounced in motion on your TV....... Still images are a horrid way to compare, seeing it in motion betetr res immediately jumps out, and Frame rates are felt immediately. Add in shadws, efects and everything else, you get the drift.
