Actually, he's just a real gamer. He plays all his games, thoroughly, and doesn't bullshit it. It's the opinion and critic of a fellow gamer, who has no affilition to a website or company, how is that a bad thing?

It's not a bad thing, but apparently you aren't reliable if Metacritic doesn't cover you! *cough* Quarter to Three *cough*  

I rely more on user reviews on Amazon since the people who buy those specific games are actually interested in playing them. I feel that Quarter to Three only exists to disagree with everyone for the sake of not "being in the crowd" and to get clicks.
