I've never had access to games that had budgets of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS before. And neither have you. Not to mention that there are indie games available that best your old classics for a fraction of the price (I assume you know what inflation means). There are more games that are more varied available now than ever. Game devs are doing their utmost to bring high-quality, original content to you that would have been unfathomable a few years back.

I could make many more arguments to your self-entitled complaints about how horrible the internet (and hence the things that go along with it) are for games and how terrible expansion packs and dlc are, but I'll leave it at this:

If today I could go back in a time machine and pick up a seasoned gamer from '98 (the glory days of the PSOne/N64), he would see:

- Gargantuan flat tv screens at affordable prices (this is indeed part of gaming and is the first thing he'd notice)

- Sound quality on par with the very best the music industry has to offer

- Games that cost almost HALF A BILLION DOLLARS to make like GTAV, yet cost no more than games of his day. He is astonished to find that $60 is easier to get in this day and age and hence he has more money to buy games now than before.

- The level of realism in sports games; football, basketball, ice hockey, etc. leaves him astounded. Not only do they look near photo-realistic, but he can play them online with strangers (do you think all this stuff is easy and free to do OP?)

- should I really go on?

- etc.

- downoadable classics PSN store... Virtual console

- indies like no man's sky

- etc.

- what to speak of VR headsets (and yes, they ARE awesome - go read impressions of DK2 on REDDIT - people are raging their tits off)

And you have the audacity to say such utter nonsense. You people live in a dreamland. Gaming is better and cheaper than ever. Oh boohoo, I have to sign into the internet boohoo.
