Sony is the less imaginative but they are also more recognizable that way, Playstation sounded pretty cool to begin with and still do. They are also good with the irony... Playstation VITA for a ded console :(
As for Nintendo... never liked the name Wii and I still don't understand the reason for it. Its like after Gamecube, they guy with common sense at putting names left the company.
Sega and Atari were pretty good naming their consoles, so did Microsoft with the first xbox and 360 but with the One... wtf??!!
BTW I think the best gen was 6th
