So you are going to use one game as your example of rampant console piracy?   Sounds solid, stick with that.

If stores like Gamestop didn't sell used games, it would mean more people buying new games (unless you want to argue that people simply wouldn't purchase if the 5 dollar less used option didn't exist?) and would mean more money in the devs pocket.  That is why the online pass exists; to get that 10-15 bucks that they are misisng out on by having the used game sold instead of the new one.  Your DLC point may be good, but I would say that anyone who enjoyed the game enough will buy the DLC, used purchase or new.

One I remember. My housemate had a hacked Xbox 360, he had over 10 games for it, none of them he paid for. Sorry if the biggest game Xbox had isn't a good enough example for you.

If only it were that simple as a used copy is $5 cheaper, in the UK it's not just $5 cheaper, it's about a 1/4 to a 1/3rd cheaper, a decent amount. You do also know that a lot of games are no longer in print, right? If I wanted to buy 3D Dot Heroes now, I have to by used. I understand your point, maybe it would lead to more new games beind sold but that also means that either games become useless after your purchase or eBay would just take over, then what, ban eBay from selling games? If so then games are useless, and many wouldn't buy something if they can't do anything with it after.

Hmm, pie.
