Pre-order bonuses and you get to be one of the first people to play it. Those are the only reasons I can think of. 

It all boils down to how much you want the pre-order bonus. If you don't then you might as well just buy it release day.

It doesn't cost any extra, so getting free in-game stuff is more of a "why not?" scenario.  It's like, why NOT pre-order it for ZERO extra dollars, and I get an upgraded Sparrow and extra Vanguard gear, and I also get 4 free cars.
