Can someone explain Lost Dimension's gameplay?

It's not easy.

The core system is a turn-based combat, with free movement. Here you find the typical stuff: combo, assist, counter, various abilities, range, items, etc. It's not really similar to Valkyria Chronicles, but rather to UFO: Enemy Unknown. In any case you can't move a character more than once per turn. So, pretty classical stuff.

It's the intermission that is rather odd. There's the obvious stuff such as level up, weapon improvement, abilities development... But there's a traitor in your squad. So, you must talk to your teammates, and the "results" of your conversations get visualized in a sort of... let's call it suspicion table, where you can gauge your suspects and the reciprocal friendship of the characters. Very strange.

From the few demo missions I took, one thing is for certain: unless you are very fluent with Japanese, this game isn't enjoyable in import form. You must understand the dialogue, evaluate answers, read descriptions, and make perfect sense of the story, or else the emotional aspect of the game will be completely lost. So, it will be localization or nothing for me, sadly, as my Japanese is very basic.
