I agree with Kowen that Sony needs to continue to slim down its number of divisions 3. Sony needs to work a deal with Marvel to get Spidey in Avengers. The profit margin would be enormous with next to nothing in costs for Sony. Amazing Spider Man 2 underperformed on expectations and Amazing Spider Man 3 has been delayed. Its seriously a no brainer and would give them some much needed cash. |
Yeah agree. I think the PS+ move was a good decision, business wise. And considering what they offer i think its good value.
Do you also think they need to get out of mobile? I think they've done well with the Xperia Z line-up. They just need to take it further...the android market is always looking for the next best phone, and considering that Samsung is only making minor improvements in their flagship range..i think they should keep at it. Maybe only target the high end market.
As for the Avengers deal, they definitely need to make it happen.

They simply cant win there.
They would be better off going budget or forgetting it all together.
Sales are down yoy with the z2 launch included. Thats bad.
Ditch mobile. Concentrate on Gaming, Movies and music.

Isnt it their low/mid end phones thats not selling? I highly doubt the Z2 was down (compared to their previous flagship Z1). Nt sure if we have breakdown of that.
But yeah LG made a comeback with their G3 (after failing with the G2, G1). HTC did the same thing with the HTC One and its latest version.
People are always looking for the next best phone, and Sony has never had that phone but they very close to making it. So considering that they are really close to having the best phone on the market they shouldnt give it up right now...its not making massive losses they can keep at it a bit more.
They also need to have a decent launch in the states with their next flagship...but they cant seem to even get the US carriers to sell their phones lol. Which is pretty bad. If they can sort these things out then they can start competing for that 3rd place.
I think its too early to ditch mobile.
