Until SCE feels a sense of urgency to rush updates to gain lost ground, repair damage to consumer confidence and restore confidence in the product, they'll probably continue to take a more measured/relaxed approach to updating new feature sets.

It has not escaped my notice that SCE was much quicker to add as many features as possible, as soon as possible with the PS3, undoubtedly due to the high cost and lower market share. "Add value, reduce cost, recover market share."

I'd be lying if I said I didn't care about being able to use external drives, play MP3s during games, play MP4 videos, a media remote, or any of the other features currently available with the PS3 as well as the simple ability to change my user name, but none of these features make me believe the PS3 is a better console; it simply has a more comprehensive set of functions than the PS4 that I would really like to see in the PS4 so it can become my primary home entertainment box as I transition off the PS3.

As it stands, I don't think there is anything the XBO can change that would influence me to buy one short of the much lower price and much larger back catalog of exclusives one would expect of a console several years into its product life cycle.
