I think whats happening atm is that its a mix of a shit ton of indie games combined with the start of a brand new generation of consoles is whats causing a lot of the issues. And what I mean by that is that, when you buy a "next gen" console, a lot of people want to experience something that can be only experienced in a next gen hardware and its usually graphics that people want to see be improved more than anything else. But the issue with indie is that they go more for art style, mostly in the 2d/8bit/16bit area which can also be played on a ps3 and last gen hardware

You mix that in with the amount of indie games that are coming out compared to the little amount of AAA zomg graphix games that are coming out and I think it makes sense as to why people are not liking indies very much. Granted its not everyone but I think a lot of people want to see zomg graphics on their new toy more than artsy games that can also be played on last generation platform

As for me, I don't really care about indies with the exception of a few. I love games like Super Meat Boy, Journey, Shovel Knight and etc but 80% of the indie games dont really appeal to me cause they seem kinda samey in the sense that they are a 2d platformer/puzzle game with some sort of "uniquesh" art style or they are a survival game.
