People saying old russian isn't big, you're right it isn't, in the beta.
There are several areas blocked off in the beta that will become accessible at launch.
Kings watch, the Jovian compound, the Bunker RAS2 and the interconnecting network under the entirity of old russia, as well as a few other locations in old russia that had large doorways to new areas which were blocked off by temporary barriers.

Where you buys were running about, was litterally 60% of old russia, maybe even less depending on how far reaching the RAS2 bunker network is.

Why in the hell are people basing the final games mission count on how many the beta had in old russia? do you honestly think that there won't be more missions on russia in the full release?.. woow

it really is a pity how narrow minded people viewed this beta.  complaining of not much to do while ignoring the array of options to be had.  Messing around with high level guys,   exploring the bounds to find obscure places they hid a chest, which could very well have dope gear in the final release.   stealing a pike and roaming the cosmo.  Battling the death walker by yourself. public events and bounties,   Achieving a high grimoir against some of the tougher enemies,   Finding all the ghosts they've hiden around.  Plus the crucible only offered a taste of what is to come.  I loved the iron banner, as i got to see how my gear was compared to others,  somegames were really tough, while others were pure domination lol

This was a beta, and it must have confused some as it seems like such a smooth running game. lol

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.
