Some of those don't really apply anymore. Consoles have become more unreliable and fault-prone that a well built PC and you don't have to build it yourself either. As for "security" of not having to upgrade through the entire generation that is also debatable for the same reason; most likely you'll have to buy each console at least once more because it'll die after the warranty is out but before the generation is over.
And then the price thing is somewhat hipocrytical because a lot of people spend 1k or more on a TV which is silly. My 200 bucks monitor looks better than all those "fancy TVs" and with the money left you can get a gaming pc and just play both things on the monitor.
