When did I say I found it hard to navigate? I said that it would be nice to be able to put my own content on the homescreen and adjust it like that, instead of being met with a bunch of ads as soon as I turn it on. Look, if you like to make Microsoft some extra cash which they don't really need, that's fine. Don't expect everyone to be exactly like you. The majority of the people in the poll just said they don't appreciate ads. I don't care if it is still easy to navigate, I already said in the OP that I paid $300 for my console and $60 more per year for network and I still got ads. Or did you not bother to read it? |
My original comment was only in reference to what you (or possibly someone else) said about having a lot of games and therefore the ads got in the way of accessing those games. If you just have a problem with the fact that Microsoft is double dipping then you won't get any argument from me. I think anyone who pays for Xbox Live Gold has a legitimate reason to be pissed off. I don't pay for Xbox Live gold so I'm not in a position to complain about it. As far as I'm concerned those ads are nothing but window dressing as I make my way to the app I'm looking for.
I definitely understand being against the ads in principle, particularly in Microsoft's case, but in practice they don't bother me. I don't care that a company is making money that "they don't need' (whatever that means), Why shouldn't they make money? As long as it isn't obtrusive what do I care that they are making some extra cash from ads? If anything I'd encourage Sony to do the same. They could definitely use the extra cash, and if its as unobtrusive as the ads on Xbox dashboard it is not going to bother me one bit.
