So why are people OK with ads on the 360/One dashboard?

No need to call out "gamers on the internet" just because we don't like ads taking up space on our screen, where we could put our own content for easy access.

It's constructive criticism. The poll shows that the vast majority do not like ads on their consoles. If they complain about it, maybe Microsoft will realize that people don't appreciate the ads. If you don't mind the ads, fine, but don't expect everyone to follow your example. We all have different preferences, you can't expect everyone to turn a blind eye to the ads just because you don't mind them.

Looks like the Xbox 360 and Xbox One are the systems for you!  You can set up "My Pins" on either system and with the push of either a single button or the d-pad, you have a screen of nothing but the things you want it to have!!  Pretty awesome, right?  I know.  When you get your Xbox One, add me.  I'm d21lewis!
