It would seem so, but we need to wait for official pricing to be sure.

Maybe it's like a phone, if you subscribe you pay one price, if you just get the console without contract it's more expensive.

I guess the deciding factor will be possible subscriptions, loyalty bonuses, and ultimately the difference between official and black market price.


I've posted about this on several occasions and no one really caught on to it, but I think a subscription model is the best way for X1 to go not only in China but on a global scale. When the HW cost is built into the subscription costs and the HW itself lends a better subscribed entertainment experience than a standard cable box -- that's what justifies having an X1.
