If was the summer of 2012 or 2013, I would say it was still in doubt, however not now for a couple reasons.For most of 2013 the PS3 was selling in the neighborhood of 150k a week, sometimes more sometimes less. Now its hitting around 50k each week, that's a big drop off from a year previous. Secondly, I don't see the PS3 having as long a life as the PS2 given the starting price was much higher and profit margin lower, meaning it cost more to make the PS3 than PS2 and the price can only go so low.

When I talk to people about this a lot of them though the PS3 would pass the Wii back 1-2 years but, now a lot less of them do.
