Upset? nah, just dumbfounded by the logic, or complete lack thereof.
If neither of you have PS4's anyway, then 900$ of that $1100 ($1090 to be precise) has nothing, at all, to do with Destiny or it's pay model.
If you both wanted to play a PS4 game together you would be spending $1020 total anyway.
So the more accurate view is, you and your friend, don't have the money to play anything on PS4.
