A lot of 7th gen sales were replacement consoles to replace out of warranty rrod, ylod, and a sizable number of ps3s were also sold as defacto bluray players. The fact that ps4 multiplats outsell ps360 multiplats already is a pretty big sign of where we're at and where we're headed. Looking at the 2014-2015 release schedules it would take an act of God to derail the immediate future for the next 18 months or so. And by that point you're talking massive install base gaps that tend yo snowball a bit due to the 'friend/family' effect being statistically significant as an advantage. Hell, with more multiplats selling for ps4 than two 7g versions already, one can tell that the diehard gamers ARE in fact moving from the 7g already, those are the gamers who buy at least 1-2 games a month and are most critical for success/profit/social media boost. More casual gamers buy 1 game every few months, typically don't buy until a system is $299 or less, and are far less likely to pay for online or network with friends regarding gaming on social media or in person.
