So why are people OK with ads on the 360/One dashboard?

I think I played on 360 so much that the ads just kind of blend in, I don't really notice them anymore (probably will again after reading this thread). I remember when the 360 first got ads, I was pretty mad especially at the sound ones. Some ads just seem so random, I'd prefer the PSN ad but then again I would like none at all. Does the Wii U have ads? lol

The Wii U really doesn't, I know there was some Mario Kart 8 ad on the quick start tablet menu thing, but there are none on the home screen that are noticeable.
