So why are people OK with ads on the 360/One dashboard?

But see, I expect to see ads on the store, since that's all about buying stuff. I don't like to see ads as soon as I boot up my console and go to select a game. I would rather have all my content showing there, rather than content Microsoft want me to buy.

Oh I agree. Ads in general are really annoying, especially when you are a paying customer, as you mentioned. It's just worse when it is blatantly in your face like here. At least sometimes on the Store I'll see ads for sales, and get interested. On the homescreen, I have no reason for a political debate ad or an ad for a random movie I will never watch.
