Awhile back ago, I estimated a minimum Wii U sales of about 15 million lifetime. Based on a 33% attach ratio to MK8 and the assumption that MK8 would sell no less than 5 million units lifetime. Most told me I was being very optimistic.
Even though we don't have an official census of people's WiiU lifetime predictions, I think more than half still expect less than 20 million. So I don't think the OP is to far off the mark in making an assumption like that.
