Bravely Default is a 2013 release everywhere but the US. It's 2013. Castlevania LOS was a big game. Pokemon MD was a big game. Professor Layton was a big game. I don't see how they wouldn't be in the same catagory as the others, while it's completely obvious why the Kirby game wouldn't be in the same catagory as the others. It has nothing to do with it being a Kirby game. It just has the game design of a much smaller eshop title. I don't even think Yoshi should be on the list of "big" releases, but I'm letting that one go because I counted DKC:TF in 2014 when I didn't want to.

And the Wii U hasn't had any such surprises like the 3DS. The only new games we learned of this year for this year on the Wii U is that Toad game. And that Xenoblade was being delayed. I highly doubt we'll be getting any news for 2015 other than a title being delayed, and maybe SMT x FE actually coming out next year, but that's literally just me being hopeful.

Well, I live in the Americas (same region as US) and for me Bravely Default came out in 2014.

I also find it funny how you changed from "huge" game to "big" game now. Castlevania was definitely a big game, though not really on par with the other titles. Pokémon Mistery Dungeon and Professor Layton are certainly not big though.

As for Kirby, it's Kirby. It might look eShop to you, but if that's the case, then most Kirby games do anyway. This is not the point - the point is that this is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, so it is undeniably a big game to hit the system just like Triple Deluxe was.

Also, the Wii U has surprises. No one saw Splatoon and Star Fox coming - even Mario Maker was surprising, though that one for sure looks eShop level. (and yes, Star Fox is definitely coming in 2016, but still)

EDIT: Seriously though, the 3DS's 2014 isn't even that bad... it's actually pretty good. Not 2013 kind of good, but still pretty good.

And everywhere else in the world, BD is a 2013 game and when people bring up the 3DS 2013 library, BD is always in the conversation.

It wasn't a concious change. Substitute all the bigs with huge if it makes you feel better. You know what I mean. Castlevania absolutely is on par with the others. And yes, PMD and Professor Layton absolutely are as big as the others.

That Kirby game is nothing like most Kirbies. It is very much not a big game just like the Toad game isn't.

Those surpises were for the following year. That does nothing for 2015. All that shows is that yes, we'll likely see a few 2016 suprises at E3 next year. Hurray.

No, it's pretty terrible. Really disappointing.
