I think the better question is will MS ever not blow a generation win.
They could have had last gen but RROD and asshole policies turned millions to PS3 owners.
This gen they would have had in the bag if they launched at $400 with all the manufacturing costs being put towards power. If xone launched as just slightly more powerful than PS4 but at the same price, MS would have this gen.
Even if it launched at $500 with all the manufacturing cost being put towards power to make it significantly more powerful than PS4 it would have won.
Most people I know just wanted the most powerful next-gen console, as most peoples' favourite games are multiplat shooters and sports games. They lucked out when PS4 came out as the most powerful and $100 cheaper.
