I think people misunderstand how software boosts work. WiiU is not going to sell better in december because of games that are available today. Yes, MK8 gives yet another reason to get the WiiU but the boost wiiU will get from that game has already happened or is happenning right now.

I still stand by the hot holiday item effect. This year, that item is mostly going to be a PS4/XB1. If for nothing else, cause they are the new cool thing to have. It doesn't have to make sense... I personally never thought holiday buying habits make sense anyway.

Another thing to consider is that nov-dec marks a period when majority (probably over 80%) of the purchases are 3rd party buys i.e, are purchased as a gift/present for someone. I really just feel that the PS4/XB1 will be asked for more than the wiiU, again cause this is their first holiday season.

Considering Smash will be releasing for the end of November and the fact that it is almost on the same anticipation level as MK8, I have to say that I believe you are quite incorrect.

You're also mistaking the X1 as a hot item, which it is not nor is it near the same level as a PS4. Recent numbers have indicated this as it still only managed lacklustre sales with the $400 sku. I think the X1 is an excellent system and has a better lineup than the PS4 as for exclusives but X1 as I will reiterate is not a hot item on the level of the PS4. After Halo launches the numbers should be over the Wii U however until Smash releases at the end of November.

Unless X1 has a price drop, I don't see it managing to outsells Wii U again until sometime in early 2015.

also keep in mind amiibo could be the biggest system seller wii u ever had(tons of exposure gets kids interested in wii u we wont know)
