A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 and Air India Boeing 787 were just 25km away from MH17 before it crashed so they could have been shot too. I think MH was just very unlucky to be involved in this accident as well. I was actually surprised that this flight had 283 passengers on board. Those are quite good loads considering one of their flights went missing this year.
