Fairly popular, just in smaller numbers because of the higher female population (not being sexist, being factual), and lower population overall compared to europe/usa.

Most of my japanese friends here have gaming PC's, and the local net cafe does BF4/COD tournaments on every other weekend, with fighting game tournaments the other two weekends a month.

While the overall amount of pc gamers here is lower, the number of pc gamers running higher spec machines compared to mid-low range is actually higher, pc gamers here go fucking all out on the parts spending.

In part because the component prices are cheaper and in part because the national average for salary is higher, too, cheaper parts and higher wage make for a lot of people buying high end gear.

@Bold That's a fairly bold claim your making but it's kinda contradictory. LOL

Yes there is a lower population in Japan but the thing that keeps me from believing that there is a fairly sizeable base has to do with the fact that not a whole lot of Japanese games are popular on the PC ...

You sure it doesn't have anything to do with your gaming circle ? I would imagine that the platform holders be more associated to each other.

There's a lot of high end PC gamers but I would imagine that the Western audience being more motivated to buy high end gear seeing as how there are games that they want to have a decent experience with such as Star Citizen.

I can only speak from experience, if you head in to hard off (used store), you see two types of pc, bog standard super low end, and enthusiast-level-4-years-ago, that suggest to me that pc gamers generally pick up high end rigs, then upgrade them every 4 or 5 years here, given how many ive seen.

same goes for used graphics cards, i barely ever see stuff like GTs or GS's, its usually GTX580s and above.

When i went over to okinawa from tokyo, there were some of our friends there, and most of them had high end rigs, when i lived in shizuoka before moving to tokyo, most of my friends there ran high end rigs too.

Again, its just my personal experience, but for the most part pc gamers here don't go mid range.
