There are a lot of possibilites.. I doubt cream will clear it up. All we'll get is the chart
Whistle, catering to the west is just gonna keep happening. Look at the PS3; got a beatdown by both competitors in the US and still sold almost 3x as much as Japan numbers. and you can see the declining trend in Japan through other means as well
for instance
japanese sales for PS1 represented 18%
japanese sales for PS2 represented 14%
japanese sales for PS3 represented 12%
as for nintendo; N64 - 17% Gamecube - 18% (ok went up 1%) , Wii 13%
The west (not just US), as a game market (for home consoles) is overpowering Japan. It's where the hardware and software is sold. So obviously companies are going to focus on it. It's why Sony's strategy is solid. It's also why Wii U is still doing better in the west than in Japan.
