The PS3 is (and was) nowhere close to 50 million in the US. Right now (from VGC numbers) the PS4/XBO/WiiU are at about 43.2% of where the PS3 was last year in the US. Add in the PS3 and 360 (since Watch Dogs was there too) and the total is obviously far higher.
