Really?  Good lord!  It must... really suck!  I mean, I love SH but I don't recall the combat ever being its highlight.  In fact, if anything, I thought the sucky combat actually added to the feeling of helplessness.  Similar to what I said about the classic RE games - to whatever extend you could, you would generally try to avoid combat.  Even more so in SH because you were typically playing an average guy who couldn't really fight, unlike RE where you were a trained soldier.

The thing with Downpour is that it's more action-oriented, so avoiding combat is not really that easy...

 

Aaaaah!  So, they kind of went the RE route.  But they made it more action-oriented and didn't have the good sense to make the combat good?  Now, there's a winning strategy!  At least in survival-oriented games, the combat doesn't need to be that good.  WTF, Konami?

I think I'm beginning to understand why you said that Downpour sucked. :-/
